Microphone Problems, Buzzing noise

Hi

A long time ago my microphone stopped working. I tried to get it to work but failed, so i left it alone. recently i wanted to get my mic to work again, but have had no success. I have Soundmax Integrated audio and everytime i plug my mic in it is automatically muted. If i unmute and test, the bar shows very little sound going in and it says it cannot hear my voice. If i turn my speakers up i can hear a buzzing noise coming from the mic. If i mute the noise is gone.

I have the exact same problem.... I also had it several months ago... but back then I realized that I had the wrong drivers (realtek instead of Soundmax) ... so I changed it to Soundmax and it worked for several months and now, wothout any known by me reason it stopped working... I just get a little bit of noize when I whistle in the mic... I tried everything.. checking , unchecking boxes (believe me, I know them all), trying to update drivers... nothing.. it says that everything works properly and that it could not find more recent drivers...
so Bookworm please help!!!!!!
