You need to install the " Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver from HP before installing the audio driver.

Go here to HP > scroll to sp,32346.exe and install
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500

then go here to HP and update the Conexant audio driver
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=228&lang=e n

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

Hi Barbara

I installed sp32646 (Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver) then the Conexant audio driver. it said that there were files already installed so I overwrote them. Still no sound - any other ideas??

many thanks for giving up your free time to help. feemac

Check these out
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

Hope this helps

Hi Barbara

Tried those two - no joy - but I did find out that i seem to have duplicate audio codecs and duplicate legacy devices - meaning that the midi device cannot find a resource for itself. Also, when I stop the winaudio service - it says that 'no active mixer devices are available'.

any ideas on how to delete the dupe codec and legacy devices?? - I don't have a sound card so the audio is only via the Board -

thank you - feemac
