Image resizer tool

hi last week a friend asked me to send him a copy of a photo I had taken which I did he the complained that it was too big and that I should resize it how I asked so he told me, go to my pictures right click on an image select mail recipient and a panel will appear offering to resize the image for emailing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is where the fun begins not for me I said so I investigate a bit and find this powertoys programe download it ( I have reinstalled this prog more times this week than you've had hot dinners) I have tried any number of so called fixes that I have found on other forums it just don't work, in fact the image resizor option your supposed to have when you right click on an image which should create a resized clone in the same folder dosn't work either to add insult to injury my friend wondered why I had to right click on the image anyway as for him all he has to do is hover the mouse icon over the image and the panel appears.

Ideas any one be precise don't take it for granted that know anything about computers lead me by the nose patronise me I don't care I just want to get this thing to work it has become a mission.

Iam running XP Pro
AMD processor 1.3 Duron
Ram 768meg

You don't say in your system spec. whether you have SP2 (Service Pack 2) installed. Microsoft doesn't specify SP2 as being necessary for this powertoy to work (if it was necessary it wouldn't install if SP2 was absent), but it works for me and I'm using XP with SP2. Ask your friend if he's got SP2 installed. If he has, and I have, that may just be the answer.

Why not install a third party program?

I have found Picasa indispensable for handling my photos. If you go into preferences there are settings for automatically resizing photos to whatever you want. Picasa will then send the photos. Good, free software.
There are also many image resizer tools at your fave download site as well.

First things first yes I do have SP2 and as for the other question I had to pay a lot of money for XP pro and I am not going to add something unless what I (should) have proves inadequate for the task.

I mean it's a bit like buying a dog and barking for it!!

Before this goes any further I don't want to hear about how good other programes are I am interested in getting this one to work and nothing else so if any knows how to help me fix it please reply.

Hi oldman nice of you to join the fray But given your answer which would be helpful if I was kooking for a graphics editor or I had paintshop pro all I can say is this.

Before this goes any further I don't want to hear about how good other programes are or how you do it another way I am only interested in getting this one to work and nothing else so if any knows how to help me fix it please reply.

You will notice the meat of my reply is a requote of my previous post lets get with the progamme people.
