Windows Explorer Crashing on Startup

Hello all. Here's the deal:

My Windows Explorer crashes upon startup, i dont have any icons, and my start menu goes away. If I open up opera before I click don't send report, than i can use that, but I cant open any folders or anything. If I do, it just crashes again. I just dont know what to do, any ideas? Is there anyplace to get a full version of IE and reinstall? All I could find is the one that searches for waht you have isntalled, than downloads necessary updates and components, which doesnt help me.

Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are different things.

Im assuming your computer doesnt like one of the items that is starting up with your computer.

When you get into you computer...after your explorer crashes.

Hit CTL-ALT-DELETE

Click on Task Manager

On Task manager at the top left click FILE

Click NEW TASK (RUN)

Type Msconfig

Click on the Startup Tab

.....now right here, and keep in mind this is what <I> would do, possibly not everyone.

Uncheck every checked box that you have under startup.

This will stop those programs from loading when your computer boots. You will still be able to use them by clicking on the appropriate icon.

After unchecking, click APPLY. Then Reboot.

If that fixes your problem, the you will get a message box that pops up when your computer comes up. Check the little box in the message box, then click OK, or Yes.

If that does not fix your problem, you may want to run a virus scan if you can.

Other than that you may have to get a pro to look at it, or format, or reinstall windows, if you know how.

Sounds like you may have some spyware. A lot of that junk really f*cks up your system.

Go to www.download.com and search for adaware. Download it, install it, and run it. Delete everything it finds.
