massive prob, no sound. please help!!

hello im new to this forum and need a bit of guidance..

firstly my problem... i have no sound. heres the story

i recently had problems with my cd/dvd drive so i tryed everything to sort it out. so the i formatted my computer without backing up the drivers for my components.!! after puting windows home edition on i realised what i had done and now ive had to pay 60 pounds to get the thing sorted out. although! the guy in the shop who charged me the 60 quid said i needed to download the AAU from microsoft to get my sound working again, he told me to simply search for it in google with my pc model.

i did look and i had looked for hours before i had to take it to the shop.
microsoft doesnt seem to have the driver avalible for download so i dont know what to do!

any suggestions

i am running

a compaq prestario
model no. sr1629uk
os: windows home edition

Go here to Compac http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s... 5540&lang=en

under Original Drivers
install the Intel Chipset Drivers then RESTART your comp, this will install the INF files that tell the OS which files it need to load

Then install the Realtek driver, it is the High Definitio not AC'97

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

HP offer the driver http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...32444&dlc=e n

i did exactly as you said after trying to install the realtek high definition audio driver it said the following "your system does not have microsoft's universal audio archcitecture (UAA) high definition audio bus driver installed, you must install this driver before you install the realtek high definition audio drivers.
you can obtain the UAA audio bus drivers from microsoft."

i really have been trying to find this everywhere and still had no joy
what should i do now?

regards
