needed to be sure that you are useing on-board sound, you have looked inside and there is no sound card installed in a PCI slot, so you will need to go into the BIOS and check if on-board sound is enable. I have the Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe and Premium boards, but the BIOS on your board is different. I'll have to get the manual and check. I'll get back when I have read up

I appreciate all this help.

Yes it does, it's a high end board, supports dual graphics, PCI express x16 and PCI Express and 3 PCI slots that will take a sound card, and 4 DDR Ram slots for DDR 400 ram. All in all a very good board, able to take the Vista Ultimate OS, that's why I got my boards a year ago to take advantage of Vista.

Ok, so if it has a slot for a sound card, why do you think it doesn't have one? is it not showing up in the Belarc, or...

if the driver is not installed then Belarc does not list it, your audio plugs should be set out like this

Grey Blue
Black Green
Orange Pink

Now check the motherboard, starting at bottom left, with the keyboard, mouse, usb and other sockets at top left, the slots are like this

PCIEX16_1
PCI 1
PCI 2
PCIEX16_2
PCI 3

are any cards in the PCI 1,2 or 3 slots.

Cheers

If the PCI 3 slot is at the very bottom of the bottom-left, then there is a PCI 3 card. The 1, 2, and 16_2 have nothing.

Ok 16_1 is your disply card, if PCI 3 has a card in, and it is a sound card, then you should have a set of audio plugs there, as well as the set nearer the top, what does it say on the card,

Cheers
