model

My computer is a Howard notebook with the model number 1846. When i try to install the multimedia audio controller, it say that an error has occurred during installation of the device. It say that the name is either in use as a service name or service display name therefore causing it not to be able to install the hardware. i hope this works for you.

Can ou check this
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Cheers

no sound drivers present- also streamdll.error

HI i hope i can get some help here.I just reinstalled XP pro and everything installed fine except two things. The printer and the sound.I fixed the printer easy enough but the sound problem is giving me stress.

My sound card is a soundblaster live 5.1, In the device manager it says its an Audio Mutimedia Controller and the drivers are not installed.the original drivers on the cd wont install.Creative say this card is now obselete but i dont want to buy a new sound card yet as it was working fine when i had Xp Pro on before. My motherboard looks like it has integrated sound but i dont know how to use that instead.

Go here to SiS and install this programe, it will list all SiS drivers on your system, accept the active X the site is safe http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

it will say if your audio is SiS and also giver the chipset, just post what it gives

Hope this helps
