Graphics card not working / recognised = help!

I have the VGA controller problem mentioned on several threads here. I have just bought a computer from someone. He did a fresh install of Windows XP home. The graphics card is not being used however, the onboard graphics instead and the vga controller problem is there. ATI driver are already installed as they show up on add / remove program section - my monitor is plugged inot motherboard slot - there is a moniotr slot on the gapphics card - should I be using that - although when plugged in to there there is no signal. When I try to run the ATI driver set up again it says that hardware has not been found. I have a great new computer but the scroll of web pages flickers and I cant play games because of this graphics card problem. Help!

Here are my computer specs - thank you!

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ s939

2GB DDR 400 Memory

250Gb IDE 133 Seagate Hard Drive

Asrock 939NF4G-SATA2 Motherboard

DVD RW Drive

ATI x700 512MB Pci-E Graphics Card

Onboard 5.1 surround sound

!0/100 LAN network onboard

Firewire, USB and Audio ports on front.

Isolate power from PC. Open the system case and make sure the ATI card is seated fully down in the slot along it's full length, not tilted. You might want to remove it completely and re-seat it to make sure. If it's a PCI type you might even try putting it in a different PCI slot (there will be 3 or 4 all in a row together). If it sits in a "one-off" slot, it will be an AGP slot of which there is only 1 available, so you won't be able to move it.

You may also need to go into the BIOS setup and disable the on-board graphics, though often times this is disabled automatically when you fit an alternative graphics controller. Best to check the BIOS though.

After checking the BIOS and saving any changes, switch off. Move the monitor plug from on-board to ATI port, reboot. Windows will use it's own basic driver until you get ATI driver installed.

If still no joy and ATI card is not detected, it may be faulty.

ati mobility 128 agp 4x (dell) graphics card issue

i have a dell latitude c800 notebook
128 mb ram
30 gb hard drive
847 mhz processor
ati mobility 128 agp 4x graphics card

i play an online mmorpg called conquer online 2.0
after i load the game it freezes when my character is visable and the atidvai display driver stops responding normally forcing me to restart my pc. is there a way to fix this problem without buying a new card? i can't afford a new card muchless have it installed because i'm not trusting myself inside my laptop or it'll never run again.

thanks for any help.

Take a look at this from Ati, you need the M$ Netframework installed, check Control Panel - Add/Remove programes, if Net Framework not installed then get here, then go to Win Updates there is a Hotfix to this driver you need to install as well. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

you may also need the chipset driver from ASRock, it's listed as the AGP driver http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.as...=939Dual-SATA2

if the Ati driver will still not install you may have to do it manually, post back if you need more help
Hope this helps
