I'm assuming that your Windows O/S is starting, right?
And my second assumption is that you meant to say that your wired K&M (keybrd & mouse) EACH work fine, when WIRED DIRECTLY, but that NEITHER Keybrd NOR mouse is RESPONDING while in the WIRELESS mode, correct?
I hope that what follows helps either you or someone else who reads this post... While the steps below are just FUNDAMENTAL 101, I find that often it's the little things we forget to do that usually trip us all up...
Most of all, me...
These things actually do solve about 80% of most folk's issues when it comes to this one...
LET's GET STARTED
Now, all due respect, and I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence here, but...
1) You DID load the correct drivers
2) Then, REBOOTED
3) BATTERIES installed in BOTH wireless devices (keybrd & mouse!)
4) And, those batteries were the FRESH ones, right?
Alrighteee then...
Now for the REAL steps...
1) FIRST, if using Microsoft's Intelli-brand wireless K&M's, there will be a RECEIVER unit, shaped like an OVAL and somewhat FLAT, which you plugged into your CPU via USB. This is the device that receives the signal from the two wireless devices. THIS UNIT IS PLUGGED IN, RIGHT?
*NOTE: IF NOT using Microsoft Intelli-brand wireless Keybrd/mouse, then these steps CAN STILL PERTAIN to YOUR issue... Just do a little translation, because the fundamentals on other similar devices are nominal)
OK -> There you should SEE three (3) lights AND a button on the FACE of this RECEIVER. The button you SEE is the DEVICE SYNCHRONIZATION button. < PUSH that BUTTON NOW>
The pretty little green lights should now start blinking on & off, on & off, on & off... (GOOD SIGN).
NOW, look underneath BOTH
a) the Mouse
AND
b) the Keyboard
AND you will discover a little tiny button somewhere on the bottom of both the keyboard and the mouse...
Push their SYNC buttons too, and hopefully all the pretty little green lights on the RECEIVER, AND on the bottom of the Microsoft Mouse should STOP BLINKING now, and should be SOLID.
2) Now they should all be sync'd up -- So, test the devices...
============================
3) NOTHING???
OK -> Next, let's check the devices themselves, and make sure that your SYSTEM/DEVICE MANAGER and the USB controllers are recognizing devices them...
a) Go to < CONTROL PANEL>, then choose < SYSTEM>
b) Select the < HARDWARE > tab, then the < DEVICE MGR >
c) A LIST of devices should appear... HALF WAY down the list, one after the other, you'll see the <Keyboard>, and then the <Mouse>
d) Select both these devices, and check to see if they're(i) the correct device
(ii) double click each drop down and make sure it says "This device working correctly"
4) RIGHT click on each device and < DISABLE >, and then RE-<ENABLE> it. Often times, I've found that some devices just need a little nudge to re-initialize themselves, and they'll begin working fine.
5) If this STILL doesn't work, try running the <TROUBLESHOOT>er, which is in this same window where is says, "This device is working correctly", etc.
6) If still NOT working, then you check the CMOS (F2 or F12 upon boot up), and look for DEVICES, USB, ETC. to make sure that the USB ports are ENABLED, etc. insomuch as one is able to control this -- some CMOS's are this deep and others are not...
7) If still not working, then either roll a joint OR pour a cold one (whatever your inclination), and sit back and relax for just a minute...
8) Then, with credit card in hand, call the thieves at Microsoft (the company name, of course, a reference to the founder and CEO's penis size and permanent state of existence), and fork over $35 bucks to have them walk you thru the same steps, and then tell you to REFORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE and REINSTALL WINDOWS FROM SCRATCH...

#7 and #8 ARE MEANT AS A JOKE -- DO NOT FOLLOW EITHER OF THESE LAST TWO INSTRUCTIONS
IT WAS MEANT FOR JUST A LITTLE COMIC RELIEF to EASE THE STRESS and FRUSTRATIONS.
Hey, at least you're not like ME...
I'm here because my system is BLUE-SCREENING UPON BOOT because some Registry editor tool I downloaded at 4AM from some ROGUE Russian software company, genuinely f_ _ked up my REGISTRY, and the backup it was supposed to have made is non-existent!>
Never play with your registry at 4AM using tools from a ROGUE RUSSIAN software company, without BACKING UP YOUR REGISTRY and making TWO COPIES!!!
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this.
If anyone reads this and can help with registry errors, I'd love some help.
