Multimedia Audio Controller Problem

I just recently reformatted my computer and I had no sound except for the occasional beeps from the computer, when I checked the device manager, it said under Other devices: Multimedia Audio Controller with a exclamation point beside it. I've tried downloading the driver but it won't install right or something. Here are the results from belarc.

Assuming your PC is using the integrated sound-chip and not an add-on sound-card, go here:

Click the '+' symbol against the topmost link "Audio".

Choose the correct driver for your specific version of Windows. Download. Read any instructions that may be included in the download.

I am having the same problem. Only info I know is it is a Dell Optiplex gx260. Help this is drivin me insane! I updated windows and have no sound. The computer beeps sometimes, and there is a big yellow exclamation point over the multimedia controller symbol. I'm not sure what and where to find out all the relevant info.....Please help.

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
