Question CD/DVD drive not working --- HELP!!!!

Hi,

CD/DVD drive not working - Please HELP!!!

Can you please assist me with my problem. My problem is that my original CDRW/DVD (Samsung) stopped working. And, I bought another CD/DVD RW to try to fix the problem but now both of them are not working.

Here is the error that I’m getting:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device (code 41).

I really hope you will be able to help, thanks in advance.

Here are the specs on my computer:

Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Processor:
2.60 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

HP Pavilion 061 DT049A-ABA A424X 0n41211RE101ECHO 10
System Serial Number: MXK351239V NA400
Enclosure Type: Mini-Tower

Main Circuit Board:
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4G533LA REV 1.xx
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software, Inc. 3.17 10/16/2003

Memory Modules:
122.92 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
89.03 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

Drives:
SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-348B [CD-ROM drive]
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M USB Device [CD-ROM drive]
3.5" format removeable media [Floppy drive]

Maxtor 6Y120L0 [Hard drive] (122.94 GB) -- drive 0, s/n Y33F1QKE, rev YAR41BW0, SMART Status: Healthy
USB CompactFlash USB Device [Hard drive] -- drive 1
USB MMC/SD USB Device [Hard drive] -- drive 3
USB MS/MS Pro USB Device [Hard drive] -- drive 4
USB SmartMedia USB Device [Hard drive] -- drive 2

I have tried the following:-
-->Delete the drivers for both the CDRW/DVD and DVDW/CD, the system automatically detected them, but the problem still exists
-->I also ran the Windows Update

Any solutions or suggestions? Please let me know.

Sincerely
Denyse

Denysean,
No offence, but you might have brought a new drive for nothing, this error is a REGISTRY fault and NOT an hardware fault.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Follow what it says on this scren and it should cure the fault.
