No Sound!!!

Hi All,

HELP!!!!!

My PC is a - HP Pavilion t760.uk Desktop PC & I have just re-installed Windows XP Home Edition, the problem I've got is when I've come to play a CD through Windows Media Player 10 I keep getting an error message.

My audio device is a - Realtek ALC880(D) @ Intel 82801FB ICH6 - High Definition Audio Controller.

Can anyone help me in trying to find out how to update/re-install the necessary driver for the above. I've tried but being computer useless - I failed!!!!

Many thanks,

Kev

Posting the actual error message would have been more helpful, but if it's a driver that needs installing, it's here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s... 536&lang=en#

Before installing it, go into Control Panel (classic view), > System > click the 'Hardware' tab, then click 'Device manager.
Click the plus sign next to "Sound, Video and Game Controllers". Right-click existing audio driver and select "Uninstall".
Now install the new driver thus:

1. Download the driver update.
2. Double-click the icon for the update file downloaded in Step 1, and then click NEXT.
3. Accept the terms in the HP license agreement, and then click NEXT.
4. Click YES and wait for the update to complete.
5. Click YES to restart your PC.
