Sound Problem

A few weeks ago I started using skpye and installed a webcam and microphone whiched worked perfectly until a few days ago - now I have no sound or sound recording capabilities and the webcam will no longer work. I have tried to reinstall the hardware and recieve the following error message:

"An error occurred during the installation of this device.

The I/0 operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request."

When I go into audio in control panel all of the options are ghosted out.

When I go into device manager the hardware which has failed to install properly has yellow exclamation marks on them.

Without Everest this is a bit of a shot in the dark, this is the Gigabyte GA-8IEX motherboard audio driver

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

Do this
Then what I do is create a folder for what you are downloading.

Example: Everest
then downloads the zipped file to that folder.

Then download and install winzip.
Go to the folder and right click and click winzip extract to here.

That will make automatically make a folder and unzip the files to it. make a note of where the folder is.

When unzipped a Green circle with an i in, double click and Everest will open.

Hope this helps
