No sound (driver install problem)

Hi everyone,

I just had my motherboard replaced because my old one broke.

I had an asus p4p800s-x and now, i have a p4s800 mx installed on a custom made pc.

When i received the pc from the repair shop, i installed windows xp sp2 and now, i'm trying to install the drivers (was not included with the motherbroard because it was used) I then read a little and found which driver i had to install.

So i downloaded the file caled WDM_3665.zip. I unzipped the files. It has two folder : W2K_XP and SE so i click on W2K_XP. In this folder, i tried to click on install.exe to install the driver but nothing happened (as if i hadn't clicked) and i don't know why.

Could someone give me a hand please.

Thanks in advance

Try installing the driver this way,the driver is Soundmax

Go to Device Manager, then right click on what is displayed under that (could be unknown PCI device, Soundmax, Realtek etc)

Then click Driver

Then click Driver update

Then it will ask if you want to check Internet for updates – click No

Then click Install from a different location

Then push the Browse button

Direct it to the folder you unzipped the files to

Then click Ok

Device Manager
right click My Computer / Properties / Hardware tab / Device Manager

Don't know where you got the driver, but this is a link to your Asus motherboard drivers http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

Hope this helps
