Omg Help I Got A Virus =[ !

hi, i am a 15 year old boy. My dad is a moron and he does not know how to fix my computer. I have no money to fix it and my dad wont pay for it. My computer is currently swarmed with a deadly virus. Everytime i open my computer a window pops up and says: 60 secs till shutdown. I kept restarting and restarting but still that window keeps poping up and the computer shuts down. And I get SO MUCH pop ups. If you can please tell me how to fix it

Question

Does it tell you the name of the virus you have picked up?

METHOD
=======

Download AVG from the link below:

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/downloads/us/crp/0?prd=avw

Once installed, run it and hopefully it will pick up the virus and allow you to delete it. If that annoying window appears asking for you to shutdown again, install AVG first, reboot the PC and continue to press F8 key to get into safe mode when Windows starts up. In safe mode you can run AVG from there and that should pick up the virus.

Hope this helps.

It also sounds like it could be spyware that could be causing the problem too.

Download Ad-Aware from the link below:

http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Install it and run it. But ensure that it does a FULL system scan which can be found under it's options.

I suspect you cant download anything as your pc will hang b4 you have any chance of trying to use any tools! try starting in safe mode and restoring your system to a time where you can at least go to MS update site! After installing all the updates then use anti virus and adware software to see what you can fix. Good luck!

Ouch, sound like this little virus got away from you. I remember this happening a while back to a bunch of client computers I was working with at work. I believe it was the SASSER worm, if I remember correctly. I found a little bit of info on it that might help you. Although if you can't even boot to Windows now, this may be useless. But just in case, here is the link to the article. You can also search Symantec's site for any info on it.

If you really can't do any of the above, and you just need to reformat, reformatting a laptop is no different from reformatting a regular pc. If windows came pre-installed, you should have a restore CD, that will let you reinstall windows. The formatting is part of the install process. If you don't have a restore CD, but have an original Windows disk and CD key, then you can just boot up to the CD, and install from there, and it will ask you if you want to format in the process.

You might want to try and get any data off that you want before you format though, cause it will be gone. I think in your case, if you can't boot to safe mode, the best thing to do would be to use a boot CD program like BartPE or Knoppix or something like that, both of which are free. They are just simple operating systems that boot directly to the CD, and allow you to browse your hard drive files, and take stuff off that you might need. You can arrange them to have CD/DVD burning software, or USB flash drive drivers, whatever you want.

Here is info about creating a BartPE disk.
Here is info about Knoppix.

Good luck!
