Help!!!! my windows xp is not working my computer will not reboot.

i have an advent 7087 laptop. and when i start it up it comes up with a black screen and it says.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

i have tried all of these options but none of them seem to work.
my computer came with windows xp already installed so i do not have a windows xp restore disk.

i have also lost the advent backup discs.

what do i do? can someone please help?

If you have access to a desktop and are proficient with removing laptop hard drive and fitting it into the desktop you could try to disk check the drive there. you'll need a 2.5inch ide converter 'cause the laptop drive is a smaller interface than standard hard drives. You could also use other software to diagnose a hardware problem.
