Can you check this as modem line playback is showing
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device. see if Realtek AC'97 is an option
if not go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install
SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
Hope this helps

Doesnt work
Ok i followed the instructions and installed the reaktek driver and restarted my computer. I went to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback and clicked on the arrow but "Modem #0 Line Playback" was the only option there was.
Thanks for the replies. Any other ideas?

nope none are yellow flagged unfortunately.
Do you have any other ideas?
My sound problem occured when I disconnected everything from my motherboard and took it out then i reinstalled it. I dunno if there are any audio connection to the motherboard that i might have plugged in wrong.
I like to know if there is one because i c "f audio" on it.

Ah still no luck. Seems like everything is in right order in motherboard but still no sound detected.
I guess I have to live with no sound...
BUT what if you install a new sound card would my computer be able to recognize it?

Is the sound enabled in the BIOS
run this programe from SiS it will list the Chipsets on the board, which may need updating, these are installed before even the OS, it's safe Iv'e used it myself, let me know what it gives http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

just been to Gigabyte, it appears there are connections on the board to use either the front or rear audio jacks, you can't alternate between them. Check the audo connections on the board are they set to the front or rear audio jacks
