Audio plays thru headphones and speakers at same time

Audio plays thru headphones and speakers at the same time and I can't find out what to do about it. I can't turn my speakers off, because they are integrated with the screen and don't have a volume button.

ok i've been struggling with the same problem for a while. I've got an Acer travelmate 6460 with a realtek hd audio driver. first everything worked right, then the headphones didnt work at all. and now the speakers keep playing even when i plug in the headphones. i've looked everywhere to see if there is even a way to turn off the speakers but no luck. if anyone has any solution at all it would be much apprectiated.

I really can't think of anythng to fix this, sounds like a problem with the speakers themselves, but I've noticed this type of thing happens if the headphones jack isn't plugged in all the way to the headphones plug. All I can think of is to make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way.

If you go to the Volume Play Control [double click on the icon by the clock] then you can put a check in the PC Speaker mute box.
If you don't see a PC Speaker in the window click on the Options at the top then Properties and check the PC Speaker box. Then go back to the Play Control window and mute it.
I think there might be a better way to do it but I can't think of one right now.
