Audio Problems, also Hello

Hi, this is my first post on these forums, I do have a big problem with my office PC, and it seems to be a bit seperate from the other audio problems people are having at these forums..

What happened is, it's a very slow work day today, so I decided to relax and watch an episode of the MIghty Boosh that I brought from home on my office PC. When I put the disc into the computer, the computer crashed. No problem, so i restarted it. When the PC restarted, it kept saying that there was a disk error in capital letters, and that i needed to insert a system disk and press Enter. I don't have a system disk for obvious reasons, so I went into my BIOS settings and switched it so that the first boot device was the hard disk and not the CD-ROM, which didnt make a difference, so i swapped it back again, and switched the computer off completely, waited a few minutes and switched the PC back on. It loaded up fine, all my data was still there, but sound had just vanished. The SoundMAX control panel informed me of it first, and so after a few fiddly things, like trying to mess about with the Plug and Play enumerator, i decided to come here and ask for help. I haven't got the luxury of downloading software direct from the net, because this is a work PC and downloads are disabled. So can anyone help me? The Audio settings say that there is no audio device, but there was one before the PC crashed, so i am a bit confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tysonne.

EDIT: I have also tried System Restoring to Yesterday (the 16th) and the 12th of April, but my audio is still gone.

Hi Lios, the first thing you should do is report to whoever is in charge there that you had a disk failure because this could turn into something terminal! If the hard disk fails again you may loose some or all of your files on the pc.
As for the sound issue we need to know a bit about your pc so go here download the file and post the results. http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html
Dont you have an IT person at your work? or someone who handles probs with the pcs?
