XP Install Problem.

Hi,

Was installing XP yesterday on Celeron 433mhz and 256 Ram, which should load on, but when i go throught it and it install's it then goes to a black screen and says its now safe to turn of your computer with a Windows logo!?

Any ideas on this as I have never come across it doing this on a Install before.

Cheers

Not sure exactly what you mean but all I can think of to do would be to boot up your computer again, boot from CD, run the repair feature (not the <R> option) and see if that works. If not then maybe, you'll have to get back into the same setup screen, and this time instead of choosing the repair feature, delete the existing version, and install all over again. Of course, you'll lose anything that was on the operating system when you do this and some of the drivers.

Check connections to the hard drive. Ensure it is the master and not the slave, I have came across this problem before.

defo set on Master.

I will check the IDE Cable or maybe even use another one.

Iv tried it 4-5 times clean installs on a 10gb drive. It happends at different points of the setup, not always at the same point.

All sorted now.

Problem was when formatting in NTFS on a 10gig drive. I then tried formatting in Fat32 and it works perfect.
