Exclamation Reformatting Comp, with XP, looking for Drivers!

Ok, I tried to get on my computer earlier today, and the it ended up staying at the loading screen and never went to login, i restarted many times and even tried waiting for it. No luck, so now I have to reformat it, for the first time, I dont have the drivers for it rite now though I need some help. Does anyone have the drivers. Would be much appreciated

Have you tried booting to the XP CD and running chkdsk /r? That may fix things so you don't have to reformat and reinstall.

As far as needing drivers; they are specific to the component/operating system combination.

You need to know the make and model of each component so you can go to that component's manufacturer's web site and download the drivers.

Without knowing the make and model of the video card, sound card, network card, modem and any other components you may have, there is no way we can help you locate the drivers.

If you don't know any of that information, download, install and run Everest Home Edition. It will inventory your computer and give you information about the hardware.

If it cannot identify something, download, install and run Unknown Device Identifier.

The above pretty well covers it, just one thing to add:

If you can successfully boot, I'd suggest backing up your existing drivers with something like this:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/drivermax.html

If people would just do that when their comp is working okay, formatting/re-installing wouldn't be so harrowing an experience. Maybe there would be fewer "no audio" threads?

Oh, and if the chkdsk works and you can boot, I'd also run sfc /scannow to repair system files. Good luck.
