Please Help Me Sort This Out.

I have recently intstalled windows xp professional on my pc, used to have just windows xp alone. My speakers were working fine when I had windows xp, but when I installed xp professional, i was facing some problems with the audio. I then intsalled the driver AC97 realtek on to my pc, and it kind of sorted out my problem. It allowed me to hear some sound and music of the pc, but I had a problem trying to hear sounds from videos and movies. I did not have a problem with viewing, just did not hear any sounds at all. I tried configuring my speakers, but when I do a speaker test, it passes fine, and when I go to device manager, there is n note to say that any of my audio devices are not working. I did how ever uninstall a driver for a video audio, but do not remember the name of that driver and am now stuck to re-install it. Could some one, please please help me, and try and suggest some solutions for me, thanks guys!
