outlook express

would like to know if there is a way to shut down my outlook express for a vacation. have notified my friends. want to stop all garbage from clogging e-mail, so i don't have a million messages when i get home. thanks

It's not shutting down Outlook Express that's the issue. That wouldn't help, it only delivers messages from the server. It's whover sends you the messages that fills up your mailbox on the server -- that's what needs to be stopped. And unless you close your account with them (your email provider), that isn't going to happen.

The next best thing is, if you can access your email on the web, do that first when you return from vacation, instead of using Outlook Express.. Delete all the garbage that's there. Log out of your web-mail. Open Outlook Express and now you will only be downloading the messages you want, not the garbage and spam you deleted on the web.
