Hi, Right click my computer. Select properties then go to the hardware tab. Click on the device manager tab and look for 'Sound, Video and Game controllers. Expand that menu and it should have AC 97 audio listed there. If there is a Exclamation point there is a driver error or it's not installed. Right click on the AC 97 audio and select properties and click on the resource tab tab, make sure there are no conflicts listed at the bottom. How did you loose your sound? did you try a system restore point?

Hi Monty007!

I did what you mentioned, went to properties resource tab (btw, it did have an exclamation point nxt to Intel AC'97 Audio Controller).

Well, unde resources, the Resource Settings indicate "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem".

Have no idea why it stopped working, it was fine a couple of days ago. I do remember installing Webroot SpySweeper for MSN, although my sound was working then too. When I turned on my computer 2 days ago, I lost the sound. Been trying to search for a fix the past 2 days but no luck.

I did try uninstaling AC'97 through the troubleshooting option. By way of the device manager and the adding device manager but all I get is the error message Location: PCI bus ), device 0, function 1 Device status:
This device cannot start. (Code 10).

Oh yes, I also tried system restore but to no avail. Am really at a loss as what to do next. I hope you can help and would really really appreciate any help.

Thanks for noticing my post!
