Hello I recently installed SP2 for windows xp and my sound just disappeared, it says drivers are working properly but when I check sound and audio devices it says no audio device. Here are my system specs:
Main Circuit Board b
Board: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD MS-6714
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 04/10/2003
i sometimes lose my audio while playing games like warcraft 3 or world of warcraft, at random, few hours later (or sometimes never), my audio will come back and replay all the sounds that were suppose to be played, such a mess!
You need to check your drivers. I assume like me you use the on board sound. These drivers are usually supplied by the mobo manufacturer but Microsoft also supplied them with WinXP Pro (out of date). I would go to your mobo website and look for updated drivers. I would also check your audio settings in the bios and in Device Manager. Unfortunately this is a problem which could be specific to your personal set up although XP is usually very good at dealing with driver isuues. The only problem I had with this was setting it up in Win98 in a dual boot setup. I had to source an updated driver for that OS but it worked. I hope this helps.
