Temp folder under Windows

I have installed a program on a users PC that does not have Administrator rights. When signed on as Administrator, the program works fine. When the user signs on, there is an error message regarding files that were not able to be written to the Windows\Temp folder, as the user does not have permission to write to that folder. I have tried right clicking on the Temp folder under Windows\ but it does not give the option to modify the security on that folder. Is there a way to modify rights and permissions to that folder in regedit, so that the user with restricted rights can write to the temp folder?

the easiest way to do this is to right click the app in the users account, select "run as", and run the app as an administrator.

you also need to log on with admin account to set security permissions for whatever folder it is trying to use. Curtybob has it right. Logon with the restricted user. Do the Run As.. on the setup.exe or .msi and select Other User and enter an admin account. Alternatively, you could temporarily add the user to the local adminstrators group. (net localgroup administrators username /add)

Curty and mgrif might be close but the whole point here is to allow a NON admin to work on the system. Giving them an admin account for the "run as" defeats the purpose.

efentress, login as admin, make sure the "simple file sharing" is disabled and you should be able to set the NTFS file perm's on the temp folder.

goto: Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View (tab), uncheck bottom box (use simple file sharing).

You shoudl also uncheck the boxes to allow you the admin to view system files etc.....
