Can't login after domain was changed to a workgroup

The passwords used to get no longer work ... how do I change the workgroup back to the domain?

It's a windows XP system attached to a network with a windows 2003 server.

Any ideas?

id like to avoid that if i can but a reformat is lookin like the only way right now. Am I wrong?

You seem to have a pretty strong aversion to that suggestion!
Do you realise (Hypothetically speaking of course

) if someone's sys admin/employer hadn't granted permission to connect this laptop to another domain, and someone were to reinstall the os, it would have to be installed to the same settings as it was, previous to any domain/workgroup changes etc.?
