OS Recovery

Compaq Presario 6470NX, using XP Home, Firefox and IE7.
A recovery was done in which everything was lost to me. An error code popped up while trying to get stuff back.
Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file [Filename]. This has happened with several files.

The link that you led me to says to reinstall Office XP SP3. I don't and have not ever used Microsoft Office. I have used Open Office. So?
