WinXP Pro Drive Letters

I recently re-installed XP Pro and my drive letter have been reassigned to the following:

Primary HD = F:
Secondary HD = G:
CDROM = C:
CD/RW =D:

I have tried to assign them new drive letters according to MS's support site; however, when trying to change the primary HD drive letter, I am told that it can't be changed because it is the Primary Boot Record (or something like that).

Is there anyway to correct this without formatting the hd's again? Originally I deleted the partition of the primary, reformatted using XP Pro Full Install CD, and installed XP Pro.
