Angry iexplorer process

When I close my iexplore application the process continues to be active in task manager and it causes virtual memory problems. I can go in task manager and end the process maually but it is a pain doing that. Has anybody experienced this problem and more importantly, does anyone know how to fix it?

It might take sometime before it is removed from Windows Task Manager, I'm not sure though.
