Hi Guys,
I've got an Emachines 6260 and I've got a problem trying to remaster it. This is a little complicated, so give me a shout if you can't follow what I'm trying to say.
One day (without warning) the hdd just gave up. It wouldn't boot windows, it just keep restaring a few seconds after the bios screen. So i thought I'd remaster - but it won't do that either!
I've set up the drive as a slave in other machines, but they wont boot either when it's plugged in - so I guessed the drive was corrupt.
I have got a slave hdd, so I've installed Kubuntu on it and set up my 'corrupted' hdd as a slave. Kubuntu will boot with the suspected corrupted drive connected, and I can view the files that are on there - including the recovery partition. If I could burn the recovery partition to a bootable dvd then I could restore, but I cant find how to start the process going (I cant find an executable that will start the process going).
Anybody know if this is possible and how its done?
Cheers guys,
Mike
