XP Password question
Hi all,
I have 2 PC's in my house that are networked. I have legitimate copies of XP pro on both machines.
I need to reinstall XP on one of the machines due to children being children and downloading and deleting stuff that they have been told not to on god knows how many occasions blah blah blah. (Anyone want 2 kids?)
Anyways, I have lost one of the discs and passwords etc for one of the copies of XP. No Really. I blame the kids again.
My question is this. Will anyone know if I use the password from the copy I have left to reinstall XP on the other machine? (apart from the entire DP community).
My thinking is that if the machines are networked and use the one IP address then I may get away with it. If not I have to tear the house apart to find the other disc. Hmmmmm.
I guess I have nothing to lose by trying. If it doesn't work and I can't find the other disc I'll have to buy another copy anyways.
Many thanks
BeerMan
And a further question.....If I have to buy a new copy, can I just enter the password from the new copy onto the current install or do I have to install the copy of XP that's on the new disc?
