Xp Professional blue screen while installing/ setup

Hi, this is my first post here.
I put a computer together recently but I cannot get XP Pro to install. It seems to crash at random times during the install/setup proccess.
I believe the error is a stop error message it reads: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
then on the bottom of the screen it has a series of numbers and letters that have read differently the past two times.
I am not sure how much of the info you need bet heres the whole series.
0x0000000A(0x061FB010,0x00000002,0x00000001,0x807E 1682)

I have been fighting with this for some time now and I was wondering what my next step be or what is causing this problem. I tried swapping the WD drive with a maxtor and set it both on slave and master to no avail.
the specs for the PC are as follows.
Aopen Motherboard AK77Pro, Athlon XP1700, Maxtor 40GB 7200 HD, Leadtec 32MB video card Gforce 2 mx200. 256MB DDR, (crucial), ASUS 52X CD-ROM.
The crash usaully occurs just after the formatting and setup files are loaded and it swiches to the XP setup GUI. Im really at a loss here and hope someone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have to admit this is fun for me though. :-)
I will be very appreciative of any help. thank you for listening.

thanks

well thanks I searched the HCL but everything I have seemed to be certified and compatible. I did most everything else discussed in this article as well. My Memory module works in my other computer. I can try using a different video card, but that doesnt seem like it will help either. What Im gathering is that its some sort of hardware conflict. Could it be a bad mother board. Ill try to go through all the steps they listed again. Also I got different stop errors possibly everytime I try to install. I will experiment with that more over the weekend. thnks for your help.

umm....

well its a full fresh install on all new components. during the format and partitioning stage you cant move the mouse and it is very basic. then computer reboots and XP goes into setup where it counts down the time remaining untill setup completes. It seems to crash while its instaling device drivers, I believe.
I also tried putting in a differnt video card, it still crashed but i got a different Stop Error messsage as follows: Page_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. The first set of numbers were: 0x00000050C
That was the first time I saw that message before it was just IRQL Less or Equal. IM preaty confused as to whats causing this still. Thank you for your interest in helpin me out Im at a complete loss now, I appreciate it.

The faulty RAM could be located in any of several areas, including the secondary RAM cache, the video RAM, or the computer's main memory. To determine where the faulty RAM is located, use the following steps:

1. Disable all caching on your computer, including the CPU cache and L2 cache, in the computer's CMOS settings. For information about how to use your computer's CMOS configuration tool, please refer to your computer's documentation.

If you can successfully install Windows after disabling all caching, try re-enabling each cache, one at a time, to determine the area in which the faulty RAM is located. If you still receive the error message, continue to the next step.
2. Temporarily replace your video adapter. If you can install Windows after replacing the video adapter, the video adapter you replaced is faulty.
3. Temporarily replace the main memory installed in your computer. If the RAM in your computer consists of multiple SIMM modules, you may be able to swap SIMM modules to determine which has the faulty memory.

For example, if you have four modules of 8 megabytes (MB) each, remove two of the modules and try installing Windows again. If the Setup process still does not succeed, swap one of the SIMMs in the computer with one that you removed and try again. Continue this process to determine which of the SIMM modules contains the faulty memory.

For additional information about the error message listed above, see the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

what you have told me so far i would be more likly be the hardware but it is windows so you don't know i come from a australia and we have pc places where you can go and they'll test all the hardware for you. But if you don't have the op to do that i think make some friend with "computer nerds" as people call us and use the part's they have to make diffrent computers with your computer hardware and find the fault or another thing you could do is get a copy of "you know what" from one of your friends and see if it's the sorfware

and how old is the hardware your using and are they "XP" friendly

thanks for yer help
i think ill get it eventually.
If nothing fixes it than im going to assume that its the motherboard

well i finnaly got it running

I stayed up all nite one nite with my friends spare pc and went to work swapping parts swapped MB and still the same problem. But then after it crashed again I swapped out the ram and it continued to install and went fine. I guess i didnt really think it could have been the ram because i had it installed in my computer and it worked fine but i guess that could be because it was the second module installed?
well thanks for all your help
