Desktops: "access denied" when using enclosure powered hardrive

Here's the problem,

I have an old PC that died (bad mother board).
I purchased an External hardrive Enclosure and was planning to use that to access the file on the old hardrive from another computer. When i plugged the device in I am able to browse through most of the folders but a lot of them are giving me an "access Denied" error message. Any suggestions?

Use the security tab on the folder properties, click on advanced then the owner tab. Take ownership of the folder. If you're using Home, you need to boot to safe mode to do this.
