this one got me. auto login problem
for some strange reason my xp pro bos which is a dell started to auto login to one of my accounts. even in safe mode it always went to my account never even seeing the selection screen with the other two accounts icons. user was not set to auto login. so i deleted all the accounts in the computer through the MMC leaving only the admin and guest account. which should mean the computer will log into the admin account right .... wrong now it boots and tries to get into my old account which was deletd and has somehow attached a two digit password to it. so it would try to log in and says the password is oncorrect and i never had or put a password in that account. after that is hangs and just sits there. i found a way aroung it by switching to the old style log in then after it fails with the old account it goes to the login screen where i then remove the old account name and password and typing just administrator with no password and im able to tlog into the comp. something is holding this info always making xp try to log into an account that no longer exists how do i make it stop?????
