Angry XP instal memory_management error

I am doing a clean install of XP Home edition. I do the compatability check which is fine. I format the hard drive. When Xp goes to instal it takes about 3 or 4 minutes to abort the install citeing a "memory_management error" and is unable to continue. I run PIII 800mh on an acer open 34 nother board with 384mb of ram. (this number seems odd but....).
I've tried forums and resource search data bases to resolve this issue but have not found any info regarding this error?
Any help or ideas would be greatly welcomed. Thank You
Brian Schofield

Thats not an unusual amount of ram. You either have 3 128 sticks or 1 128 and 1 256. And there is a good chance that one of them is bad. Try removing one or two sticks and try the install again. Remember to shutoff the main switch at the back of your computer and leave it plugged in. Make sure to ground yourself to the computer case before handling the ram. Static electricity can damage ram. There will be a catch at each end of the ram that needs to be pryed back. XP seems to be more sensitive to ram than previous OS.

You need to give XP your RAID chip drivers during text install (when you see the text "Press F6 if you have any third party RAID or SCSI drivers you wish to install"). If you don't, XP may not be able to load the drivers for your RAID card properly. XP doesn't have the right version driver for your RAID chip, so you need to get those drivers on a floppy, and provide them when prompted.

Novice skills required; First, prior to system load, disable ACPI in the BIOS,,,this will allow XP a little more control of the Power Management/IRQ assignments.

Intermediate Home builder skills required; If this is still not sufficient, I would clean the disk again and not only disable the ACPI in the BIOS, but disable it in the WinXP setup (at the 'Press F6' prompt for the SCSI drivers, depress F5 and then select the 'Standard PC'),,,this will allow you to help Win place the IRQs and give you the best chance to manage that which seems to be running into compatibility problems.
