disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

I'm having a problem installing XP x64 onto a custom built PC that I just finished putting together. But when I attempt to load the OS after 'Verifying DMI pool Data' appears I get the error 'disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter'. At first I thought that it might be a boot priority issue so I changed that around a few times and nothing different happened, so I also verified that the SATA HD and cd/dvd-rom that is in it are being verified by the POST which they are. I also checked the BIOs and nothing is wrong there. I can't figure out what the problem is. Can someone give me some help?

While I was waiting for someone to help me out I was going over some other threads that had similar problems and tried several things that didn't help me out and I found one thread that said that USB devices might cause a conflict, being that my new keyboard is USB I found an old keyboard that isn't USB and tried that and what do you know up comes the boot from cd text. Hopefully this was the fix to my problem.

Thanks for informing everyone about the solution. I'm gunna try to remember that one, sometimes though you forget to check the simplest things. Nearly two years ago I had a very similar problem with a USB mouse. But I read your first post and the possibility didn't occur to me. [scratches head] Thanks for the reminder.
