Problem installing nVidia driver

I got nVidia's drivers Version: 43.45 in exe file.
During instalation i was instructed to first remove the current drivers (I am using the drivers that came with windows XP).
The problem is, after i uninstall the device, I have to restart. During start up, window finds the "new" hardware, and installs it's own drivers again, leaving me at the exact state i was before.
When I tried to do that without uninstalling the current drivers, and my computer started to stutter, plus other problems occured.
I did system restore, fiddled with norton win doctor, restarted and things seem to be back to normal.

Is there a way to stop windows from findng and installing software automatically?

btw - I need nVidia's driver to use the clone feature which i can't find in windows drivers.

Go to Device Manager > Choose your Device > Right click Properties > Driver > Update Driver...

If you install that way, then windows won't find and install it again.

Yeah, but doing it this was will require an inf file, which you don't have. You have an exe. Just run the exe and ignore the fact that they tell you to remove it. I always install nVidia's newest drivers without removing any other ones first and it works fine.

The Tool - njovin is right. I don't have the inf file.
As I said - I tried ignoring the removal, but they were not installed! The old drivers are still there.

To un-install video drivers, go to control panel, add or remove programs.

They should be listed there, under 'Nvidia'. Reading your post it sounds like your un-installing your video card from device manager.

You can install new drivers over old, it shouldn't be a problem.

ok relax it will work just fine if you let windows to install its own drivers
restart install the detonator restart.
if it is not working after doing as i said just go to C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/local setting/ temp and you will find there the temporary files from the detonator and you can specify the path in "Go to Device Manager > Choose your Device > Right click Properties > Driver > Update Driver..."
Have FUN !!
