Exclamation multimedia audio controller problem w/ sony w20

I just had to reinstall windows XP pro on a Sony PCV-W20 and when loading the drivers I have a yellow triangle w/ exclamation point next to the multimedia audio controller in device manager. I tried the driver listed #7012 from Sony's support site still with no luck. The machine has an on board integrated sound card. I checked the BIOS and the sound is enabled. A wasted $30 phone call to Sony provided no answers. They recommened that I try XP home instead of XP pro because that is what the system came with. I do not have any recovery CD's and Sony no longer produces them. I did download and run Belarc with the following results:

Did you do a full microsoft update? You may need to get KB888111 UAA hotfix.
Thanks,
Bill

I will try. I did see a few downloads that stated to do the UAA first but I did not know what that was.
