XP remote Desktop

Hello,

I have just upgraded my Windows 2000 machine with Windows XP. I am trying to get remote desktop working with my work computer. I know my work computer is setup properly and I can connect to my VPN from my home machine. When I start the Remote Desktop Client I get "Cannot connect to remote computer" but if I type \\computername in the run box I get promted for my User Name and password and I can see the shared folders. Any Idea whay may be wrong with the Remote desktop client? I have the Firewall to allow remote desktop to run but I am also running Norton 2007.

Many times the problem is related to DNS. For the Remote Desktop connection, are you typing in JUST the host name or are you using the full FQDN? In other words, try server.company.com or whatever the full FQDN or DNS name is.

That should rule out DNS.
