sound driver help please

hey im new to this so bare with me
i recently reformated my pc
sound was working fine untill i installed service pack 2 onto my pc then im gettin the messages in windows media player " windows media player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your device blah blah blah.

the error id is .. Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000
