Xp Installation : Missing Files On Cd

Well, I know a lot of computers, but now I'm totally down, because I can't fix this problem I have.

First I had windows Xp on my PC, running perfectly. I had also KaZa running, at a moment I came home and there were some errors on screen. (it can happen, I know)
Some days later I started the Pc and windows XP started, when it had finished, it reboot. Started the pc again and began to start windows xp. Over and over again. The machine had an own life. (??)
So I couldn't fix the problem, so format the shit and install XP again, no problemo! Well, a lots of problems. I had the start discs (6) and then it began from the cd. At the time it began to copy files from the cd to harddrive, I got a message:
Couldn't find CDAUDIO.sys and later on I got another 30 messages from files he couldn't find. So the installation did not work at all. I tried many times.
Strange because 2 weeks ago I installed it by a friend. works 100% (I don't get it)

So, I installed windows'98 with also a lot of problems.
Now it runs. not good but I can internet. I try 2 install burn programs and virus scanners, downloaded from kaza, but they won't work. Always have an installation fallure. I tried many versions.

I tried to install windows 2000 from originally disk , but didn't work also.


How can I install windows Xp on my machine and let it run 100%
Have I a virus or something?

Hi Arnold, you could try copying the XP disk to another partitioin on your hard drive and setting it up from there.
As for the constant rebooting that could be a lot of things including a faulty harddrive, you'll need to see an error message to be sure.
