Are you trying to install without formatting first? Always perform a clean installation, not a reinstallation over the old OS, as this causes many problems.

Format your HD before you try to install XP again. (You can do this within the XP installation procedure.)

If you have already formatted, what exactly is the error you get?

It might well be a problem with the RAM.

Look here for info and possible solutions.

Well it appears to be either ram or another hardware issue. Have you tried putting the ram in another slot? Disconnected all unnecessary peripherals and cards? If so, get your mainboard checked out.
