Exclamation I can't activate my view hidden files option... Please HELP!

I have noticed that my documents & settings folder has
gotten very large over the past few days, like 11GB large!

So I went into that folder and tried to see what the heck was so huge
in there, but I see nothing! I figured the files were hidden so when I tried
to set my view options to show my hidden files, it won't set to view hidden files under tools , folder options, view. It always resets back to don't show hidden files after i click "ok" when i try to set it to view hidden files. I am the administrator on my computer and I do have full permissions on my user account on my computer as I am the only one that uses it.

Can someone tell me how I can get this working?

Thank you.

My install drive is D: so yes, i do mean my installed drive doc & set.

I do understand what you are saying, but this does not address the
inability to see/activate my hidden folders option.....

Start menu only contains the shortcuts to the .exe files for each installed
program. my start menu folder is only 74.8kb in size.

I have checked each folder/file in my user folder which is the one in question and there is not one folder/file in that location that is totalling
11GB in size.

My computer skills are fairly advanced so in most cases (99.9%) i can
solve this problem on my own, which is why I'm here cuz I can't for the
life of me figure out what is going on.

JustAskMe*

YES I SAY I'M EXPERIENCED!

And I also said other things too, which you are not addressing, so I need
to ask you now, CAN YOU READ?

Who told you that you can't install your OS on D:?

Your OS looks for your system files on which ever drive you have installed your OS onto.

NO IT WASN'T A TYPEING ERROR!

Please don't try to get smart with me!
I didn't come to this forum to get agrivated by smart ass comments like
that!

FYI you can install your OS on any drive you wish that is connected
directly to your computer. I would stay away from installing on USB drives and removable drives....

You are not even targeting the actual problem I'm experiencing. I need focused and direct technical answers to my problem. If you can not read my problem and clearly understand it I will have to ask you to stop trying to help me.
