Multimedia Audio Controller Install

I have a dell computer, service tag 9TRXR11. Intel Processor. I need the correct multimedia audio controller for my computer. I downloaded the correct one before for this computer but forgot how I did it, it was Soundmax. At dell.com, I went to drivers and downloads, I entered my service tag code. I couldn't find the Multimedia Audio Controller for my computer under Audio. I looked under all categories and still couldn't find it. So, I must've downloaded soundmax driver from somewhere else, I just don't remember how I did it. My device manager has a big question mark next to Multimedia Audio Controller. Can someone help me?

Can't see anything relating to your sound card, download the following. Click on "Sound" and reply with the make of your sound card. Or you could click on "Motherboard" and reply with that as well

Go here to Dell ADI 198x audio is Soundmax driver

http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&catid=&impid=

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

I'm sorry, but I already downloaded Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio but I don't see soundmax driver anywhere. I wish I can remember how I got the soundmax driver, I did it with ease I remember, but now it's the most difficult thing ever. It's lame that under audio the soundmax driver is not there for my service tag, there are only 2 optional audio which is of no use for my computer. Is there a step I'm missing? I did create a system restore point, how do you use it?

ADI 198x is a Soundmax driver, check this to see if Soundmax is the default driver

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

this is what you posted last time

I figured it out, when I installed Soundmax for my Multimedia audio controller driver missing, xp didn't automatically change the settings in control panel to soundmax audio, so I manually found that out and switched it myself, then sound from the internet worked finally. thanks for your help
