Internet Explorer freezing problem

Hello,

i have recently been experiencing a problem with IE. What came on like what seemed very suddenly, my internet will no longer work. I have a Toshiba Sattellite laptop running XP. I hadn't downloaded any new software to the system recently.

The computer works fine with the exception of when i click on the IE icon. A blank window pops up and it just freezes, i need to go to the task manager to shut it down.

The box in the lower right by the clock says that internet is connected. i can access programs like iTunes store and my outlook email, but IE will not work.

From time to time when I attempt it i will also get an error message that says something like "application tfswcres.dll not found" I am not sure what that file is and think that must have something to do with it.

i ran a basic spyware/ malware sweep (adaware) and deleted anything it found but IE still didnt work.

is there something else I can try? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Would you be willing to uninstall IE7.0 to see if that helps with your problem ?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177

Some web site decribe "tfswcres.dll" as file for Sonic Solutions file and other like "softwaretipsandtricks" says it is part of Veritas application, in any case, I don't think this file is actually causing the crash.

I have read on couple of web site resetting Internet Explorer setting and removing the Add-On Manager would help out with IE crashes.
Here is the how-to link:

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks

Thanks for the response.

i am definitely willing to give it a shot myself before having to try and bring it someplace and pay for it.

Would you reccomend just uninstalling IE7 and then redownloading it from another browser (such as aol) and reinstalling it?

Or should i try to remove the add-on manager first?

Either way, thanks for your help!!

Uninstall IE 7.0...that will default you to IE6.0......if things works out for you with IE 6.0 then don't worry about add-on Manager.....otherwise...remove some of the add-on manager that don't belong to Microsoft see if that helps.

If finally you can get on-line with IE6.0 after removing the add-on....then you can try to upgrade to ie7.0 once again.

You could always use different browser if removing the IE7.0 does not help.....I would not suggest anything by AOL because i haven't use anything by AOL yet(thank God).......FireFox is a good choice of browser...

also, Apple has created Safari for Windows based operating system if you want to try that:
