Windows registry tweak ended with a big problem

I’ve made a mistake with a programme for windows optimization. I wanted to give it a boost and instead of this I have now a dead computer. Unfortunately, after tweaking with Registry Mechanic the system stops loading at halfway, all that remains me is to restart the computer in the hope that next time will succeed but no success.
I feel I lost my everything, much appreciation to the one who’ll help me recover what can be recovered.

just because you can't boot into the operating system doesnt mean that you have lost anything.....everything is there, you just can't access it now.

Have you tried the Last Good Known Option ?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307852

Have you tried Safe Mode option ?
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true

If either one of these option don't work then you could do a parallel install, here is how-to link:

or you could perform a repair install, here is how-to link:

Don't worry, nothing has been lost.....you will get them back...by the I would do a repair install before parallel install.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

You haven't told us what version of Windows you have, so I'll have to assume it's Windows XP.

Keep tapping the F8 key repeatedly as soon as you switch the PC on.
You should eventually get the 'Advanced Startup Options'
Select "Last known good configuration" with the up/down arrow keys
then press 'Enter'. Hopefully Windows will start.

If still no Windows start, restart the PC, again tapping the F8 key until the startup menu appears, but this time select "Safe Mode" or "safe mode with networking" if "safe mode" doesn't work.

Once you are back in Windows, use 'System Restore" and choose a date before you installed Registry Mechanic".

When System Restore restarts Windows, be sure to delete all your existing restore points so you don't inadvertently restore System Mechanic, for if you do the problem will return. You delete all your restore points by turning off System Restore, then turn it on again.

Thanks I followed what you said and now all my files are fine. However I would like to know if Registry Mechanic is trustful or it was my fault? Should I use an antivirus?
