Multiple Monitors / Video Controller

hey, i was upgrading my computer with a 2nd monitor and when i used the option of extending my dekstop to the 2nd whenever i hit apply it instantly resets 2 default settings, only one monitor in use at one time. im using the AGP port from my video card and the AGP port from my mother board, both work.

when i used the straight motherboard graphics it says the video controller isnt installed properly and needs 2 be updated. when i do that through device manager it fails to do so.

ANY IDEAS?
