Question slow menu bar

Hi..

I am currently using XP Home Edition / HP Pavillion, 80 GB, 768 RAM, Norton 2002 - everything..

Over the last week I have notice a big difference in the amount of time it is taking to populate my menu windows... The worst is
START - ALL PROGRAMS the menu window opens but it is blank and after about 15 seconds it will populate.... now this is also occuring when I try to open.. My Pictures, My Documents, My Computer... even Control Panel... It seems to be taking longer each day.... Any suggestions????

Thanks

Toni

Did you download the Q811493 Update ? What you're describing are the symptoms that many people are getting who have downloaded it. If you did, then remove it in the add/remove feature of the control panel.

Groober posted yesterday that Microsoft has finally released a Knowledge Base Article that addresses this and they almost admit that it was a mistake, something that we've known for weeks, although not everyone has had trouble with it (I had trouble with it, too).

ESALADUANE is right about Q811493. Word of advice... disable automatic updates and wait a few weeks before installing any Microsoft updates. Q811493 caused me more problems than I care to discuss.
