Question XP SP1 [GOOD!] or [BAD!]

ok why should you download SP1?

is it for better performance?

Because my computer is working just fine, no errors or nothing!

Do you think i should download??

Have anyone had problems?

Tell us about it! Thanx

Problems have been very few so far, but improvements have been many... Boot time has increased, system stability's improved, systray is no longer buggy, some applications seem to load faster than before... I'm guessing they plugged some lingering memory leaks and optimized the code quite a bit more...

Upon analysis of the files in the SP1 installer archive, I found that it replaces close to 2/3 of the original OS components... After a major overhaul like that, one can hope it'll have improvements *somewhere*...

I Like it.

I just installed SP1, but I don't see anything different. Yeah it might boot up faster as you say but mine is 1.8gz and I can't tell the differnence. O well.

what more do u want frog? i'm on a 750mhz and i definitely see improvements in load time, sometimes 5 seconds (photoshop, for example) and sometimes just one or two. running on anything more than 1.5 or 1.6ghz, there isn't much u are going to shorten because load time is ALREADY very fast... however, for us sub-gig people, load time is still an issue!

Well I dled SP 1 today, and I definately do not like it, It majorly slowed down my computer, and I have a 1.7 ghz P4, it makes me sooo mad. Bootup time increased from like 20 seconds to more like 50 and to log on from the welcome screen, it takes like 30 seconds now

thas great quiller, I'm happy your computer goes faster! But is that the only reason why people download SP1? I was just curious about it that is why I downloaded it. And yeah so i know my laptop goes fast, but you don't need to ask me "What more do u want?" Cuz i could care less.

I installed SP1 and now my loading time is SEVERELY lengthened Plus, mu sounds don't work correctly. Example: when using AIM, I hear a pop, then a second break, THEN the sound that is meant to be played. Similar occurances are throughout the system.

Anyone heard of this before/have any suggestions?

Thanks
Brian
